CHIN
A retracted chin can be caused by a set back jaw (retrognathia) or too small a jaw (micrognathia). This is usually accompanied by an overbite.
You can also have a (too) small chin without abnormalities of the jaw, or it can be caused by aging. A possible double chin may be visible.
It creates a somewhat soft appearance, which can be experienced as something to be bothered about, especially for men.
The chin also gives support to your lower lip. If this is too little, you will see that the chin muscles (mentalis) have to tighten in order to close the mouth. During that tightening, pitting can be visible, an effect also known as a golf ball chin.
In the past, the only solution was jaw surgery or a chin implant. Fortunately, you can now restore the contour and balance of the face a lot easier with fillers.

TREATMENT
During the consultation we discuss your wishes and everything is explained. Sometimes (eg with 3-4ml) it is wise to split the treatment in 2 times so that the tissue can get used to the new volume in between.
The filler is placed in place with a thin needle or cannula. After the treatment, some redness may be visible, this will disappear within an hour. Sometimes you can suffer from a tight / bruised feeling for a few days for which you can take 2 paracetamol 3-4 times a day if necessary. There is a slightly higher chance of a bruise in this place, which usually disappears in 4-10 days. You can safely use camouflage or arnica ointment after 24 hours.

The nice thing about fillers; you see immediate results! It does take some time to settle down, the best result is visible after 6-8 weeks.

For optimal results, it is best not to exercise for 24 hours and avoid heat (sun/sauna) and other beauty treatments for 2 weeks.

As soon as you notice that the chin is getting smaller again, the treatment can be repeated, usually you need less product than the first time.
