TEETH GRINDING

The chewing muscle in the jaw (masseter) is often referred to as the strongest muscle in the body. When you suffer from teeth grinding or jaw clenching (bruxism) you might do so unconsciously, usually in your sleep. It is often associated with a personality that has a highly need of control. There can be considerable damage or wear to your teeth, but also headaches, a tight and stiff feeling when waking up and poor sleep (nightmares) occur. The more you 'train' the muscle, the stronger it becomes.

By relaxing the muscle with botox, the unnecessary tension and strength will decrease. Of course you can still chew your food without any problems!

TREATMENT : BOTOX MASSETER MUSCLES
DURATION OF TREATMENT: 5-10 MINUTES
PAIN: MODERATE
VISIBLE: AFTER 4-5 DAYS
RECOVERY TIME: NONE
RESULT: LESS/NO MORE GRINDING/CLENCHING
DURATION EFFECT: 3-5 MONTHS

TREATMENT

During the consultation we discuss your wishes and everything is explained.

Botox is injected into the muscle with an ultra-thin needle. Small red bumps may be visible in the places where the injection has been made, these will disappear within an hour. Sometimes a small bruise occurs, this usually disappears within a few days. You can safely use camouflage or arnica ointment after 60 minutes if necessary.

After 4-5 days you will see that it starts to take effect, after 14 days it works completely.

For optimal results, it is best to avoid heat (sun/sauna) for 24 hours, do not exercise and do not massage the treated area.

Once the movement returns, the treatment can be repeated.

EFFECT

Botox ensures that the chewing muscles contract less strongly for 3-5 months.

  • The grinding/clenching stops or decreases

  • Damage to the teeth can't get worse

  • Possible headache/stiffness can be reduced

  • The muscle shrinks - the face narrows a bit
